TM230 - Process FMEA in aerospace-defence, according to SCMH, AS13100 & RM13004

Aerospace & Defence
Onsite, Remote session
2
day(s)

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS:

Minimum : 4 Maximum: 12

LANGUAGES:

Training materials: English, French
Trainers: 25+ spoken languages by TRIGO trainers all over the world

RECOMMENDED FOR:

  • Process / Industrialization / Methods / Maintenance / Production / Logistics Managers & Engineers
  • Design Managers & Engineers
  • Quality Managers & Engineers
  • Project Managers
  • Anyone involved in a Process FMEA
  • FMEA coordinator/facilitator
  • Auditors

CONTEXT:

  • Every product design must be controlled at every stage of its life cycle, in order to reduce the risks of customer dissatisfaction, feasibility problems, missed deadlines, costs and, worst of all, legal and penal consequences.
  • In particular, the aeronautics, space and defence sector require risk analyses to be carried out using the management system standards EN 9100 and EN 9145 as part of APQP-PPAP, and specifically for aerospace engine manufacturers, AS 13100, supplemented by the AEQS RM13004 reference manual and associated SCMH forms.
  • To optimize analysis time, it is important to know how to prioritize PFMEA studies and how to use PFMEA of a generic process in an appropriate way.
  • Finally, for the FMEA approach to be sustainable, it is necessary to reinforce the skills and motivation of your development teams by producing useful and effective FMEAs.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand the specific requirements of the ASD sector and engine manufacturers in particular.
  • Going further than customer requirements and standards, understand the benefits to the company of carrying out PFMEAs.
  • Know how to plan and prioritize your PFMEAs.
  • Understand the different FMEA principles: failure mode, cause and effect, and the distinction between prevention and detection.
  • Know how to prioritize risks and risk reduction actions.
  • Make the link between the PFMEA and the control plan.
  • Avoid errors in designing a PFMEA.
  • How to audit a PFMEA effectively (key points to be audited).

PREREQUISITES:

No prerequisites.

SPECIFIC OPERATING CONDITIONS FOR REMOTE SESSIONS:

  • Have a PC with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: background screens are available on Zoom or Teams to blur or hide the rear view.
  • Have a good Internet connection, to be tested before the session.
  • Be installed in a quiet, isolated place ; set yourself to “unavailable” status on Teams ; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
  • Participants from the same organization should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at his/ her own desk, to avoid any side discussions during the session. Virtual sub-groups will be specially created for the exercises, which will also enable mixed groups.
  • Remote qualification/certification exams must be taken with camera and microphone open. We may also need to check that you are alone in the room.
  • Please connect 5 minutes before the start of the session.

TRAINING METHOD:

Trainees will identify best practice in PFMEA at each step of the process:

  • Open session training: application to a case study developed by TRIGO.
  • In-house training: application to a company case study selected in advance with TRIGO.

TRAINING PROGRAM:

  1. Historical background, FMEA in the aerospace industry and associated standards requirements
  2. Creation of the PFMEA team
  3. The PFMEA preparation phase: external and internal functional analyses
  4. Key principles
  5. Presentation of alternative PFMEA tables (SCMH-IAQG- Customer)
  6. Severity – Occurrence – Detection rating grids (SCMH-IAQG- Customer)
  7. Pitfalls to avoid in the PFMEA
  8. PFMEA study report and sustainability of the PFMEA
  9. The SWOT of your PFMEA practices, in order to provide you with ideas for improvement

EVALUATION METHOD:

Knowledge test (Multi Choice Questions)

SKILLS VALIDATION:

Training qualification certificate

TRAINING MATERIALS:

Participant file containing the training material and exercises. Training materials in digital format are made available to trainees a few days before the course.
