NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS:

MINIMUM: 4, MAXIMUM: 12

LANGUAGES:

Training materials: English/French
Trainers: 25+ spoken languages by TRIGO trainers all over the world

RECOMMANDED FOR:

Industrialization / Engineering managers. Quality / QHSE managers, leaders

CONTEXT:

You want to optimize the performance of your processes by using experimental designs to identify the most influential variables and combinations of variables to control and define the best setting for these variables.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Know how to pre-identify the variables to be studied through hypothesis testing.
  • Understand the basic statistical concepts associated with experimental design.
  • Know how to conduct and analyse the results of factorial experimental designs.
  • Identify the response surface model.
  • Identify the most robust factors settings.
  • Understand the conditions for successful implementation of experimental designs.
  • Plan to conduct design of experiments in your company.

PREREQUISITES:

No prerequisite.

SPECIFIC OPERATING CONDITIONS FOR REMOTE SESSIONS:

  • Have a PC with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: background screens are available on Zoom or Teams to blur or hide the rear view.
  • Have a good Internet connection, to be tested before the session.
  • Be installed in a quiet, isolated place; set yourself to “unavailable” status on Teams; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
  • Participants from the same organization should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at his/ her own desk, to avoid any side discussions during the session. Virtual sub-groups will be specially created for the exercises, which will also enable mixed groups.
  • Remote qualification/certification exams must be taken with webcam and microphone open. We may also need to check that you are alone in the room.
  • Please connect 5 minutes before the start of the session.

TRAINING METHOD:

The teaching method used is fun and based on a case study to put the trainees in a real-life situation.
Use of MINITAB software (a demonstration version is available on the MINITAB website).

TRAINING PROGRAM:

  1. Key definitions and principles.
  2. Screening designs (Plackett Burman design and Taguchi design).
  3. Pre-selection of factors to be studied with a factorial experimental design.
  4. Filtering design.
  5. Complete factorial designs.
  6. Response surface modelling.
  7. Response optimisation.
  8. Synthesis and evaluation of the approach.

EVALUATION METHOD:

Validation by the trainer of the ability to apply the concepts and tools taught through real-life exercises.

SKILLS VALIDATION:

Training qualification certificate

TRAINING MATERIALS:

Participant file containing the training material and exercises. Training materials in digital format are made available to trainees a few days before the course.
